5 Day Old Scarlett - Newborn Photo Shoot With Bumps Baby Beyond Leicestershire Photographer

Beautiful baby Scarlett came to see us a few weeks back at only 5 days old. Prior to the session we kept in contact with her mummy to ensure we knew when she had arrived and we could get her in for her session as soon as possible.

One of our top tips for preparing you for your newborn session is to keep your little one awake for at least 1 hour before the session and give them a feed just before you leave to ensure they are happy and settled and will sleep for us during the session. Ways to keep your baby awake are things that you do with them regularly like giving them a bath, putting them down on their play mat or on the bed just simply interacting with them. This helps to simulate their senses which at this young age really tires them out.

Scarlett’s mummy and daddy did an amazing job at keeping her awake and she was so settled for her session, this meant we got lots of photos and different poses with her.
We started off on the beanbag and achieved many different poses with different backdrops. Scarlett’s mummy chose the colours for their session and went with textured and patterned backdrops. Including this beautiful white and lavender flower one from Love Rosalie prop shop. We also used various headbands (mum loved the headbands). Using different headbands can help change an image by not disturbing baby too much.

Here is the coral set up with a coral headband and backdrop from Bumps Baby Beyond Prop shop. We also used an amazing outfit from Pixey Dust Photography Props

During the beanbag posing we used our popcorn white fabric to capture a pose called “Tushie Up” with this image we can photoshop it into our swing digital. You can see what we mean here.

Once we had achieved all our beanbag poses we went onto our props, mum wanted rustic type images so we stuck with fairly neutral colours and hessian but added a colour in to so that there is a variety of colours and images.

The same as the beanbag, we use images from the props and photoshop them in digital images which gives you an extra set up from an image already captured. Here are the other two digital images we captured.

We had such a lovely session with baby Scarlett and her family and it is a credit to her mummy and daddy for preparing Scarlett so well for her session. It really does help so much.
