prince michaAs a Leicester newborn photographer I cover the Leicestershire area. I received a phone call one morning from a mummy who had seen my advert on a local mum’s site, Netmums. She begun to ask if I would photograph her precious son.. As a general rule of thumb I only photography babies under 14 days and then again at 3/4 months but on this occasion he has come early and they were in hospital for a few weeks so I made an exception to this rule. Once babies go over the 14 days they tend to be more alert and certain poses aren’t safe due to them not being able to recreate the curled up positions. As I mentioned little Micha was early so in these circumstances you can take their due date and do 14 days post this date. As mum had a very difficult pregnancy/labour I agreed to do a home visit and I’m so glad I did. I was met by beautiful Leah who I can honestly say hand on heart is the most well behaved and polite lady I have ever met, she helped me with my equipment and throughout the session asked if there was anything she could help me do (like arranging the set ups he would be in!) grandma was also on hand ;) At 3 weeks old he was a pleasure to photograph. I am thrilled we had an appointment for him as often my sessions are pre booked and when we reach the limit for bookings we are unable to schedule anymore sessions. We always recommend pregnant ladies contact us at the beginning of the second trimester ideally after their 20 week scan. I was thrilled big sister came to the session and she was incredible and confident holding her baby brother. The sibling shots are always the most tricky but this little lady made it a real pleasure and even asked if she could be the front of my shop window (if I was to get one hehe!). With younger siblings we wouldn’t attempt that they hold the baby, instead we would have them positioned lying on the floor or we would have them sitting next to a prop. Sometimes we don’t actually have the baby in the prop but do it as a composition for newborn baby safety. It was lovely that grandma could join us for the session too as we managed to get loads of lovely family photos :)
